Approach

I draw on my background in psychology and philosophy, as well as on psychodynamic therapy which looks at the unconscious processes between us and finds links between what you're experiencing in the present and your early childhood and family experiences. I also use a systemic lens when working with young people, couples, and families.
While I'm especially interested in working with those with an experience of parental narcissism as well as with individuals with existential and identity issues, I'm also experienced in working with sexual abuse, attachment difficulties as well as a range of issues from depression and anxiety to alcohol abuse and relationship problems. I feel lucky as I've had the pleasure of witnessing my clients experience positive change as these problems lessened their hold over them and they became more of their true selves.

Supervision

My training across multiple approaches lends itself to quite an integrative approach and is reflective of my interest in working with and learning from different modalities. Similarly, my supervision training had an integrative focus, with a further emphasis on psychodynamic processes around unconscious transference and parallel process. I am therefore open to working with supervisees from different modalities, but may at times bring attention to the relational dynamics and unconscious communications in both the therapeutic and the supervisory relationship. I also embody the person-centred way of being and have a relaxed, collegial approach to supervision, where I hope to help my supervisees feel comfortable to playfully explore their stuckness, consider how the work is affecting them, and bring their successes as well as their challenges for joint reflection.

Framework

I work from a psychoanalytic framework where if we agree to work together beyond the first consultation, I will reserve the same time slot for you each week, which will be charged the full fee for the calendar month ahead regardless of any missed sessions or cancellations.
If you let me know with more than 7 days’ notice, I will try to offer you an alternative time to recover the session you missed subject to my availability but without the possibility of reimbursement. I do offer 3 days of planned cancellations free of charge every 6 months, so you can use this for planned holidays, other appointments, or anything else you may choose.

Client feedback

“Utter most professional, emphatic, caring person which I will always be grateful for the time and patience taken to understand me. Without a doubt, the best that is out there.”
“Thank you for everything again. I will miss our sessions. Good luck to you going forward with your private practice as well. I’m sure you will help lots of people! You are an amazing therapist.”
“Thank you for taking the time to help me out on the work I have been undertaking with regards to my fears of intimacy and ability to form significant relationships. Your input has been really helpful in helping me to identify and address things which I have needed to shine a light on to and put effort into. Thanks again for your kindness, compassion and care, it has been appreciated and has helped me.”
